WES E-Guide

Promoting Inclusive Teaching Pathways

About the e-guide:

In collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute (UMDI), WES developed the SIIP Demonstration Implementation Guides to support state and local governments, community-based organizations, institutions, and other entities aiming to advance immigrant workforce inclusion. This guide highlights effective strategies for fostering inclusive entry into the education workforce, featuring proven approaches and real-world examples from SIIP Demonstration partners. Three organizations are showcased: CareerLadder, the City of Tulsa’s Department of Resilience and Equity, and Richard J. Daley College. These partners launched initiatives to connect immigrants with teaching positions in U.S. classrooms. The strategies presented in this report serve as adaptable models for communities nationwide.

The WES SIIP Demonstration Opportunity was established to help support state and local communities in creating more equitable and inclusive workforces for internationally trained immigrants. The SIIP Demonstration model offers customized technical assistance, financial assistance, a community of practice, and program development support to advance promising initiatives that have the potential to be replicated in other communities.
