SULAF AL-SHAIKHLY

Advanced Evaluation Specialist, WES

Sulaf has been at WES for the past nine years specializing in the education systems of the Middle East as well as document authenticity and verification. She has done extensive work related to refugee students who have non-verifiable documents from Middle Eastern institutions. She holds a master’s degree in computer science from Iraq’s University of Technology. She speaks Arabic and English and has a working knowledge of Turkish and Farsi. Her experience working for five years in Iraqi higher education includes teaching roles at the University of Technology and Baghdad University. Sulaf has also presented at many conferences, including NAFSA and TAICEP, as well as in webinars and workshops in the U.S. and abroad.

Ning Luo

Data Analytics Associate, WES

Ning earned a master’s degree in social and comparative analysis in education from the University of Pittsburgh School of Education, and a bachelor’s degree in education from Capital Normal University in Beijing, China. Ning specializes in conducting statistical analysis in quantitative research on international student experience and student mobility. Ning has also presented at conferences, including NAFSA.

Alejandro Ortiz

Senior Research Associate

Alejandro is a regular contributor to WES original research reports and World Education News and Reviews (WENR). He recently wrote an article on Academic Mobility in the Middle East and Egypt: If not West, Where Will Students Go? Alejandro earned a master’s degree in public administration from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico.
