About the event:

The WES Gateway Program assesses the educational credentials of individuals who have been displaced as a result of adverse circumstances in their country and have limited proof of their academic achievements. The program is available to individuals educated in Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, and Venezuela who are currently in Canada and meet program requirements.

Monamee Ishika

Manager, WES Gateway Program

Monamee has over 5 years of international and local experience supporting immigrants, refugees, and diverse communities towards successful integration. Monamee is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) with solid project/program management and analytical skills. Prior to WES, Monamee worked at the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) as a Project Specialist on the Career Advancement for Immigrant Professionals Program. Before moving to Canada in 2019, she worked as an Employment Specialist at Sonder, an agency supporting the career development and advancement of immigrants to Australia. Her international credentials include a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, an MBA, and a second Master’s in Management


Nita Simola

Program Coordinator, WES Gateway Program

Nita is the Program Coordinator for the WES Gateway Program and has worked in the non-profit/social enterprise industry for over eight years. Prior to joining WES in 2017 she worked as a Youth Coordinator in Vancouver developing various outreach programs for underprivileged youth as well as an Event Coordinator for the Canadian Deaf Blind Association BC Chapter. During her time at WES Nita has worked in different departments and was involved in developing and implementing new policies and procedures for WES Global Operations.
